Certificate of competence

Of course, the legally required certificate of competence can be completed in our training centers at regular intervals. Dates on request or on the homepage of the respective training center.

The current range of courses can be found under "Training centers"

Puppy and young dog courses

A well-organized puppy course is the basis for trust, socialization and everyday suitability for our little four-legged friends. The first signals such as a happy recall or walking on a loose leash are learned, the right game with conspecifics is practiced and excursions into the “big new world” are undertaken.

The subsequent young dog course consolidates all the things learned in the puppy course and promotes the preferences and strengths of our retrievers in a playful way, such as the joyful bringing up or first nose work. In addition, our trainers are at your side with advice and action on all questions relating to the pubescent phases and the path to becoming an adult dog.

Companion dog test with behavior test ("human-dog-team test") and companion dog tests 1 to 3

The companion dog test is the first ÖKV test that the dog can pass at the earliest 12 months - it is a perfect conclusion for young dog training (therefore recommended for every dog) and the "ticket" to the great world of dog sport. In addition to an obedience part, the dog's suitability for everyday use is tested (behavior towards people and other dogs, encounters in public spaces with, for example, cyclists, joggers, wearing a muzzle, etc.).

Subsequently, in our year-round courses, we accompany ambitious dog handlers on their way from the companion dog test level 1 to level 3.

Retriever exams

This includes the obedience and retrieval tests (GAP - in 3 test levels), the basic retriever tests (RBP - in 4 test levels) and the search performance test (SLP). The focus of these exams vary from basic obedience to retrieving to demanding nose work in open terrain. Our training centers regularly offer preparatory courses for these exams.

Dummy training

For a species-appropriate utilization - especially of the non-hunted retrievers - numerous dummy trainings take place in our training centers every week, from beginners to working test participants. Depending on the level of training, training takes place at the respective training area or in the area's own area.

Therapy companion dog training

Would you like to train your retriever to be a therapy companion dog? The Pongau training center holds a modular series of training courses at regular intervals that conclude with the officially recognized Messerli certification. If you are interested, please contact the Pongau training center directly.

Hunting training

In order to train the retriever for hunting, the ÖRC has state-wide hunting competence centers that serve to prepare for hunting tests (AF / R, JBP / R, BLP, BTR, VGP, SSP / SPoR). Ongoing hunting training including welding work takes place in the training centers. For more information, please contact the heads of the training centers or the head of the regional group.

Exhibitions & ring training

If you are interested in demonstrating your retriever at national or international exhibitions, please contact the Salzburg city training center. We would be happy to organize appropriate training courses in order to present the dogs perfectly "on the big stage".

Training and workshops with external trainers

The regional group regularly organizes special courses (dummy, hunting training, etc.) in cooperation with external trainers from home and abroad, such as Bobby Robertson (CZ), Oliver Kiraly (HU), Karel van Loo (NL), Alfred Pieber (AT), etc. - partly in our own training facilities, partly directly with the trainers on site. Further information can be found on the homepage of the respective training center.
