DUMMY TRIALS - PURE TENSION

Dummy trials form the link between working tests and field trials.

A dummy trial tries to simulate a small game hunt as it occurs in a field trial. This means that not only individual situations of the hunt are simulated as a task for the dogs (working test), but one tries to simulate a hunt (field trial) in its overall process and with all situations in dummy trials.

As with a field trial, a dummy trial should select the best dogs of the day, which convince the judges on the day of the test due to their qualities.

Both the process and the assessment of the different tasks that are placed on the dogs result in different requirements than the working test.

Whenever the opportunity arises, the dog handler teams should be tested during a walk-up as well as a drive and in the water. The focus should always be on implementation close to the hunt. According to the International Field Trial Regulations, the best dogs of the day should receive at least five fetch.

The implementation of a dummy trial by the ÖRC is subject to the FCI's "International Regulations for Working Trials in the Field / Field Trials for Dogs of Retriever Breeds".
