WHAT DOES THE ÖRC SEE ITS TASKS

  • The purpose of the ÖRC is to promote breeding, to strengthen the understanding of the nature and the appropriate keeping of pedigree retriever dogs in Austria, as well as their breed-appropriate training, management and testing.
  • The ÖRC promotes breeding in the sense of the established breed characteristics and the character standard by establishing appropriate breeding regulations. In addition, he is concerned with maintaining the health and performance of the retriever breeds. The examination of form and utility value is carried out by recognized judges. The retrievers approved for breeding by the ÖRC must be free of manifest hereditary defects and must not have any defects that exclude breeding.
  • The ÖRC enables breeders, owners and lovers of retrievers to get in touch with each other and tries to protect their interests.
  • The ÖRC holds special exhibitions, club shows and performance tests, and organizes training courses to increase understanding of retriever breeds and the concerns of their breeders.
  • The ÖRC sends teams to international events of sporting and hunting origins, organizes informal get-togethers for members and provides specialist lectures and the publication of publications. The club's own magazine, Der "Österreichische Retriever", appears four times a year and is free of charge for members.

In order to be able to better fulfill its diverse tasks, the ÖRC makes use of the help of regional groups. They try to provide training and guidance suitable for retrievers on site, whereby the sociable is not neglected.
The members of the ÖRC have the opportunity to determine which national group they want to be supervised by. The regional group leaders elected by the members of the respective regional group are co-opted into the board of the ÖRC.
